Diversity at Mathematica
Mathematica takes pride in its commitment to diversity. Here, diversity translates into an inclusive work environment, where differences in experience, ethnic backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles add strength and value to our core mission—providing the social policy community with objective, high-quality information collection and analysis. Our reputation for excellence depends on our outstanding staff, who are determined to bring innovation and rigor to our work. Building an inclusive culture that draws on the diverse strengths of employees from different backgrounds is key to our success.
Mathematica senior management actively supports initiatives to promote staff diversity and community involvement, as well as a work environment that offers employees at all levels the opportunity to pursue their professional ambitions. The Human Resources Management Association recognized our accomplishments in 2005 and 2007 with the Excellence in Diversity Award. Criteria for this award included evidence of support for diversity initiatives from top management, a diverse culture of inclusion, involvement in the community, and respect for and commitment to sustaining a diverse organizational culture. The association also presented us with its 2009 Department of the Year Award in recognition of effective human resource management.
Other efforts to build a diverse corporate culture are reflected in our summer fellowship program, targeted recruitment efforts, and visa sponsorship. We support career advancement through our tuition assistance program, as well as on-site training, including skills improvement and development opportunities.
Mathematica's ongoing commitment to diversity is also woven into everyday actions, policies, and practices. We are committed to maintaining a work environment in which everyone is treated with respect and dignity. We continually strive to maintain a professional and collegial atmosphere that respects the contributions of each staff member, promotes equal employment opportunities, and is free of bias, prejudice, and harassment.
