Mark Dynarski received an Award for Exemplary Service on Behalf of Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis. The award is presented to researchers whose reviews of submitted manuscripts represent the highest standards of scholarship.
Steve Glazerman presented an update on the Teach for America evaluation, including findings on teacher characteristics.
Susan Sprachman and John Love presented at the poster symposium "Research-Based Curriculum-Embedded Assessment of Children in a Statewide Child Development System." The symposium was based on work they are doing as part of a team of researchers developing observational assessments for the California Department of Education, Child Development Division. Susan's presentations were "Articulating Developmental Indicators Across Age Levels" and "Implementation at Early Care and Education Sites: Training Teachers as Observational Assessors." John coauthored "Assessment to Inform Program Decisions and Support Program Improvement."
Korantemaa Atanda, and colleagues from Columbia University and UCLA, presented chapters from their forthcoming book, In Search of Brown, to be published by Harvard University Press, 2005.
