Arnold Y. ChenArnold Y. Chen
Senior Clinician Researcher

Arnold Chen is a senior clinician researcher at Mathematica whose research has focused on studying the effects of health policies and programs on the quality of care.

He currently directs Mathematica’s contract with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) for the National Resource Center for Health Information Technology, and leads the impact analyses for the evaluation of the 9th Scope of Work Quality Improvement Organization Program. He also led the quality-of-care analyses for several previous studies—Coordinated Care, Disease Management, Informatics for Diabetes Education and Telemedicine, Payment Reform for Part B-Covered Outpatient Drugs and Biologicals, and Home Health Prospective Payment.

Chen’s publications have appeared in JAMA and Diabetes Care, and he has presented at AcademyHealth and the American Public Health Association. He also serves as clinical assistant professor of medicine at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey–Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and practices general internal medicine at a community health center. He has an M.D. from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and an M.Sc. in health policy and management from Harvard School of Public Health. He completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Colorado and a general medicine fellowship at West Roxbury Veterans Affairs Hospital and Harvard Medical School and is board certified in internal medicine.
