Bharat R. Thakor
Senior Systems Analyst
Bharat Thakor, a senior systems analyst, designs, develops, and implements large-scale multimode and longitudinal survey management and tracking systems using .NET and SQL-Server technologies.
Currently, he serves as the Information Systems lead for the National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS), an annual survey of approximately 17,000 substance abuse treatment facilities in the United States and its territories. He has been on the N-SSATS team since 1997. He has been responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the Facility-Tracking and Data Editing System (F-TADES) for the N-SSATS project. He oversees all of the system programming, including the development of computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI), web surveys, and F-TADES on this multimode establishment survey.
Thakor served as the Information Systems lead on the 2010 National Mental Health Services Survey (N-MHSS). Approximately 16,000 mental health facilities in the United States used this multimode (mail, web, and CATI) establishment survey. The N-SSATS and N-MHSS survey systems provide a fully integrated F-TADES system with real-time communications, meaning the F-TADES system manages all modes of data collection, shutting down surveys in other modes as they were completed. This F-TADES system reduced interviewer call time and redundancy.
Thakor provided technical support in the development and implementation of the National Survey of Recent College Graduates (NSRCG) survey management system (SMS) and coding applications. He coordinated, designed, and oversaw development and implementation of the Paperless Online Edit Tracking module of SMS. The NSRCG is a biennial survey and is a component of the National Science Foundation Scientists and Engineers Statistical Data System. He also designed, developed, and implemented data systems for other large-scale nationwide multimode surveys, including the national survey of Supplemental Security Income children and families and the multi-site evaluation of the Welfare-to-Work grants program. Thakor holds an M.S. in applied physics from the M.S. University of Baroda, India.
