Patricia Del Grosso
Senior Researcher
Patricia Del Grosso is a senior researcher with expertise in evaluating early childhood education programs and systems, including home visiting programs, home-based child care, and child care quality rating and improvement systems.
Del Grosso currently serves as project manager for the national cross-site evaluation of the Supporting Evidence-Based Home Visiting to Prevent Child Maltreatment project and contributes to the Regional Planning Grants National Evaluation and Technical Assistance project. She is task leader for a systematic review of the implementation research literature on early childhood home visiting on the Home Visiting Evidence of Effectiveness review. She recently led a literature review of how early childhood education teachers monitor children’s progress and use that information to individualize instruction and support school readiness.
She served as project director for the Evaluation of the Early Head Start for Family Child Care project and contributed to the Supporting Quality in Home-Based Child Care project, a study designed to identify promising strategies for improving quality in home-based settings. As part of the Early Learning Initiative evaluation, Del Grosso led the implementation study of a pilot child care quality rating and improvement system in Washington State.
Del Grosso joined Mathematica in 2004. She has presented her research at academic conferences including the Society for Research in Child Development Biennial Meeting. Del Grosso holds an M.S. in education policy from the University of Pennsylvania.
