M. Robin Dion
Senior Researcher

M. Robin DionRobin Dion is a senior researcher with significant experience in leading projects for family support evaluations focusing on fatherhood, family initiatives, and at-risk youth. Most notably, she is the co-principal investigator of Mathematica’s Building Strong Families project, a nine-year demonstration and rigorous evaluation of programs to strengthen the relationships of low-income unmarried parents.

Currently, she is the director of Parents and Children Together, a large-scale, five-year, multisite random assignment evaluation of grant programs that aims to strengthen and support responsible fatherhood, healthy relationships, and marriage. Dion is also the principal investigator for a systematic review of implementation studies reporting on successful and promising program models to strengthen families and promote responsible fatherhood. In addition, she serves as project director for a study for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on housing options for youth who are aging out of the foster care system; Dion has a similar role on the Youth Demonstration Development Project, which aims to improve the lives and self-sufficiency of at-risk youth.

Before joining Mathematica in 1999, Dion served as a senior research analyst for Child Trends, Inc. She is a member of many professional organizations, including the National Council on Family Relations, Research Advisory Group, Oklahoma Marriage Initiative, and the Association for Public Policy and Analysis; she also is an adviser to the National Healthy Marriage Resource Center. Dion has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Couple and Relationship Therapy: Innovations in Clinical and Educational Interventions. She holds an M.A. in social psychology from Arizona State University.
