Associate Director of Information Services and Senior Systems Analyst

Steven Lehrfeld is the associate director of Information Systems and a senior systems analyst. He has more than 20 years of information technology experience, including programming, project and departmental management, strategizing, and budgeting.

Since joining Mathematica in 2003, Lehrfeld has served as lead programmer or project lead on several large-scale projects, including the National Beneficiary Study; the School Nutrition Dietary Assessment Study; the Access, Participation, Eligibility, and Certification Study (APEC); Building Strong Families; and the Descriptive Study of Early Head Start Family and Child Experiences Survey (Baby FACES). These projects are complex, multimode, longitudinal studies that required advanced systems design. Currently Lehrfeld serves as a senior technical advisor on the APEC II project, as well as other ongoing studies.

Lehrfeld assists with planning Information Systems’ departmental goals and initiatives, including staff and career development. He serves on a committee to determine future technological directions and oversees capitalized development of those systems. He leads a team that prepares proposals and budgets for the department.

Lehrfeld is a regular participant and presenter at the annual FedCASIC conference hosted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics in Washington, D.C., at which he most recently presented on “Mathematica’s Integrated Survey Management System.” He holds a B.A. in computer science from Rutgers University.
