About Us
Every day, decision makers are flooded with information intended to influence their choices. The Center for Improving Research Evidence (CIRE) helps navigate the wide array of options, using sound science as a guide.
In early 2008, Mathematica launched CIRE to identify, assess, and disseminate results from high quality research and evaluations, and to provide evaluation technical assistance to support a growing national and international evidence base. CIRE’s activities and services build on Mathematica’s more than 40 years of experience designing and conducting the highest quality research and evaluations used to improve public well-being.
Our current projects involve partnerships with federal agencies, foundations, and grantees.
We also provide workshops and forums on:
- Assessing evidence and drawing appropriate conclusions from it
- Conducting systematic reviews of evidence to inform decision making
Workshops and forums can be tailored to match the needs of a specific organization. Learn more.
CIRE also provides independent reviews of the scientific quality of a study design or completed report. The reviews assess:
- The relationship between the study objective and its design
- The appropriateness of the measures, mode of data collection, and analytic approach
- Whether the findings and conclusions of completed studies are adequately supported
Contact us if you would like CIRE to provide a review of a study design or report.
