Contact: Cheryl Pedersen, (609) 275-2258

PRINCETON, N.J. (June 7, 2007)—Mathematica Policy Research, Inc., recently announced the appointment of two executives to new positions. Stuart Kerachsky has been named senior vice president for Strategic Assessment and Implementation, and Amy Johnson has been named director of the Surveys and Information Services (SIS) Division.

Kerachsky, a resident of Princeton, received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin. Since 1974, he has held key positions at Mathematica®, including director of the Research Division and, most recently, director of the SIS Division. His policy expertise spans welfare, employment, child care, and education and training, and he specializes in conceptualizing, designing, and managing evaluations of complex social programs.

In announcing Kerachsky's appointment, Paul Decker, president of Mathematica, said, “Stuart has guided a significant transformation in the SIS Division's capability to respond to client needs as they evolve. His commitment to the values of Mathematica, demonstrated over his 33-year tenure, combined with his knowledge of the organization and our markets, make him the ideal person to take on this new strategic position.”

Johnson, a resident of Philadelphia, joined Mathematica in 1997 after completing her Ph.D. in education at the University of Pennsylvania. During the past 10 years, she has served as associate director of SIS; director, Princeton Survey Research; and in 2007 was named vice president. An expert in issues related to at-risk youth and teaching and learning, she has played a major role in key welfare and education studies for state and federal clients, including the State of New Jersey and the U.S. Department of Education.

Commenting on Johnson's new position, Decker said, “I am pleased to have Amy take on this new responsibility, and believe the knowledge, experience, and energy she brings to her appointment will serve both the SIS Division and Mathematica well as we prepare for the future.”
