Moore Named Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President at Mathematica
WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 16, 2009)—Mathematica Policy Research, Inc., recently announced the appointment of Mary T. Moore, a resident of Washington, D.C., as chief operating officer and executive vice president. In her new role, Moore will be responsible for business and risk management, as well as performance of the firm’s operating divisions. Prior to her recent appointment, she was senior vice president and director of the Research Division.
A nationally known expert on education policy, Moore’s research has focused on programs for at-risk youth, adult education, and education reform. She was a principal investigator for Mathematica’s national evaluation of the impacts of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers' after-school programs. She provided senior advice on the firm’s evaluation of teacher induction programs. Over a period of years, she served as principal investigator for the national evaluation of Upward Bound, assessing programs’ operations and their effectiveness on students' high school and postsecondary outcomes. Her other noteworthy research includes evaluating the effectiveness of workplace literacy programs and developing indicator reports on the relationship between education and economic productivity.
Before coming to Mathematica in 1991, Moore was a vice president at Decision Resources Corporation and served as a policy analyst for the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. She is a member of the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management, has published widely, and presents before Congress, federal and state policymakers, and professional associations. She has a Ph.D. in education from the University of California, Los Angeles.
