Judith Wooldridge Retires from Mathematica After More Than 40 Years

PRINCETON, NJ—October 4, 2011—Mathematica Policy Research recently announced that Judith Wooldridge, senior vice president and director of strategy and development, retired on September 30, after more than 40 years with the company.

“Judith has had a profound influence on Mathematica and the field of health policy over the past four decades. She’s a true empiricist who is always willing to try out new ideas. A significant part of what Mathematica is today is a direct reflection of Judith’s influence,” said Paul Decker, president and chief executive officer. “While we will miss her leadership, scholarship, and friendship, Judith’s lasting contributions have positioned the company for a strong future.”

Wooldridge, an expert in health services delivery for vulnerable populations, had several careers within Mathematica. She joined the firm’s Research Division in 1971 and developed into a key researcher in the area of health policy. By the 1980s, Wooldridge was one of the company’s most respected senior health researchers, directing studies on topics ranging from rural hospitals and health care financing to health professions training. In 1992, she became vice president and director of health research in the Princeton office, and then eventually the director of health research for the entire company. In 2004, Wooldridge was promoted to senior vice president, where she oversaw strategic planning, organization of staff training initiatives, and expansion of corporate communications capabilities. During her long career, Wooldridge published in many peer-reviewed journals, briefed Congress, made countless presentations to both public and private agencies, and served several terms on Mathematica's board of directors.

“My career with Mathematica has been wonderful,” Wooldridge said. “It is a company that cares about its staff, its clients, and the work they do together to improve public well-being. While I look back on what I’ve accomplished with great satisfaction, I am most proud of the people I’ve mentored and the careers I’ve helped develop. I hope my legacy will be the many things they and Mathematica have yet to achieve.”
