Barbara Devaney has been named chief operating officer and executive vice president. In this role, she oversees the direction and overall performance of Mathematica’s survey and research divisions, which include both health and human services research. An accomplished researcher and national expert in nutrition, child and maternal health, and policies for at-risk youth, Devaney co-directed the Building Strong Families evaluation and served as principal investigator on the evaluation of abstinence education programs, which received the 2009 Outstanding Evaluation Award from the American Evaluation Association. |

Deborah “Debbie” Reed has been named senior vice president and director of human services research. Reed has expertise in employment and training programs. Since joining Mathematica in 2009 to launch the company’s Oakland, California, office, Reed has played a key role in projects such as the What Works Clearinghouse for the U.S. Department of Education, the Youth Transition Demonstration for the Social Security Administration, and other evaluations and research for the U.S. Department of Labor and a consortium of foundations. |

Mary Moore has taken on the new role of senior vice president, director of professional and organizational development. She will focus on companywide training and development initiatives as well as special projects. Since joining the company in 1991, Moore has brought her leadership, experience, and expertise to overseeing Mathematica’s research and operations. |

Mary Harrington, currently director of health research in Mathematica’s Ann Arbor, Michigan, office and a leading contributor to rigorous implementation research and research methods at the firm, has been named vice president. Over her 16-year tenure with Mathematica, she has been instrumental in many of the company’s most important research projects in the areas of children’s health and health insurance, including the major 10-state evaluation of the Children’s Health Insurance Program, which she directs. |

Sheena McConnell has been named vice president and director of Washington, DC, human services research. She brings extensive management experience in addition to a strong research background focused on policies to promote employment and family well-being in disadvantaged populations. For more than two decades at Mathematica, she has led several signature experimental evaluations, such as a national evaluation of Workforce Investment Act programs, an evaluation of responsible fatherhood and healthy marriage programs, and an evaluation of teachers who enter the profession through Teach For America or a Teaching Fellows program. |
