Lead Data Analytics Developer

Deo Bencio has more than 30 years of programming and analysis experience. He designs and constructs health-care-related analysis files, primarily from Medicare and Medicaid databases.

Bencio, who joined Mathematica in 1995, directs the National Medicaid Statistical Information System (MSIS) project, which involves quality reviews of state data as well as technical assistance. He is also a task leader and senior systems analyst for the Medicaid Analytic eXtract (MAX) and Beta-MAX Data Production project, developing and implementing business rules for adjusting claims data. He has played a key role in projects that use Medicaid claims data to examine the use of prescription drugs as well as long-term care services. For the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ evaluation of the Children’s Health Insurance Program, he was the lead programmer for the analysis of enrollment and utilization patterns.

Bencio held various technical positions at the MEDSTAT Group before joining Mathematica. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from the University of Maryland.
