Efficient Operations: At the Heart of a Good Survey

Mathematica maintains a state-of-the-art data collection center with over 120 computer-assisted telephone interviewing stations. This fully integrated facility has the technology and expertise to manage all aspects of data collection.

The facility provides data entry, mail, and web processing services, as well as expertise for locating hard-to-find respondents. The center, which can employ up to 350 data collectors during peak periods, is managed by a senior survey professional and staffed by experienced survey supervisors, interviewers, data coders, editors, locators, and data entry operators.

To support field studies conducted in person, Mathematica draws on our wide geographic network of over 3,000 experienced interviewers. To staff each project quickly and appropriately, we use an interactive database that identifies interviewers by location and area of expertise—for example, in interviewing people with disabilities, or in conducting interviews with business executives or other professionals.

We also have a large cadre of bilingual interviewers and maintain cooperative arrangements with centers that specialize in interviewing in other languages or dialects, allowing us to provide surveys in virtually any language desired.
