Measuring Health System Change: The Community Tracking Study

In one of our largest surveys to date, we are interviewing approximately 33,000 families every two years as part of the Community Tracking Study. Designed with our research partner, the Center for Studying Health System Change, the study is tracking changes in the health system in 60 communities throughout the nation and helping to understand their effects on people's lives.

An innovative complement to this survey is the followback survey that links household survey respondents to the organizations that provide their insurance. This study extends our understanding of insurance coverage by obtaining information about insurance plans that individuals often have difficulty recalling.

The Community Tracking Study also includes surveys of physicians, where we are designing the sample, estimation methods, and public use file documentation.
