About Mathematica

We're a research and data analytics consultancy driven by a mission to improve public well-being. Our experts innovate at the intersection of data science, social science, and technology to translate big questions into deep insights.

Collaborating closely with decision makers and changemakers, we’re reimagining the way the world collects, analyzes, and applies data to solve urgent challenges, from climate change to disparities that fuel inequality.

Employee-owned and mission-driven, Mathematica centers diversity, equity, and inclusion in all we do—and we thrive because of it. Government agencies, private-sector organizations, foundations, and businesses providing health care and other human services rely on us to deliver evidence-based solutions that improve programs, refine strategies, and deepen understanding.

Our Mission, Vision, and History

Mathematica’s mission is to improve public well-being by using data and evidence that meet the highest quality standards. Together with our partners, we’re working to build a more equitable and just world, where evidence drives decisions for global impact. Our history includes developing one of the earliest models for social policy research, which set the stage for our growth as a diverse and innovative team using data science, social science, and technology to deliver sustainable solutions.

About the Mathematica team

Employee-Owned and Dedicated

Employee ownership is a way of life and source of pride at Mathematica. We are a 100 percent employee-owned company, with a profit-sharing plan and an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) that benefit every member of our staff after six months of employment. The bottom line is simple: we all contribute to our mission, vision, and strategy, and we all have a stake in the results.

Our Commitment to Our Communities and Each Other

Mathematica has been a mission-driven organization for more than 50 years. But our definition of mission-driven has never stopped growing. Today it describes not only our commitment to improving public well-being through the use of data and evidence, but also the way we engage with our clients, colleagues, and partners around the world. We are active volunteers in our communities, enthusiastic corporate sponsors for a range of non-profit events and organizations, and builders of sustainable shared workspaces that value climate consciousness, equity, and work-life balance.
