Mathematica. Progress Together.
Mathematica is the insight partner that illuminates the path to progress for public- and private-sector changemakers. Our organization is dedicated to improving public well-being and reimagining the way the world gathers and uses data. Our 1,200-plus experts uncover evidence that gives our partners the confidence and clarity they need to find out what can be done, how to make it happen, and where to go next. We dive into urgent social challenges with rigor and objectivity to surface evidence and understanding that weather the toughest tests.
We’ve been at the forefront of assessing the effectiveness of policies and programs for 50 years. Considered an architect of social policy research, we conducted the first social policy experiment in the United States, the New Jersey Negative Income Tax Experiment, to test ways of encouraging people with low income to work.
Today, Mathematica works across the country and around the globe, serving federal agencies, state and local governments, foundations, universities, professional associations, and businesses. Our studies and analyses yield information that guide decisions in areas ranging from health, education, child welfare, and family support to nutrition, employment, disability, criminal justice, and international development. In 2018, we acquired EDI Group, an international research and data collection organization, expanding our capabilities and our presence in the UK and Africa.
Led by President and CEO Paul Decker, Mathematica’s experts are distinguished by a commitment to the following:
- Objective, evidence-based standards. We have a reputation for rigor, excellence, and objectivity that we’ve earned through a thorough, comprehensive system of in-house and independent peer reviews of all our products. This quality assurance process is unique to Mathematica and is the foundation for everything we do.
- Superior data. At Mathematica, we understand that good research begins with good data. We also understand the benefits of integrating quantitative and qualitative data, so we bring our rigorous methods to the collection and analysis of both. Our experts provide clients with reliable, accurate information and deliverables of the highest quality.
- Collaboration. Our collaborative style enables us to integrate innovative research methods with cutting-edge data services.
