Alexandra Stanczyk’s research focuses on public policies and programs that serve disadvantaged individuals and families. Her work covers a wide range of policy areas, including safety net and income support programs; paid family leave and other work–family policies; and child welfare policy and practice. A mixed-methods researcher, she has expertise in assessing program and policy impact and implementation.
Stanczyk, who came to Mathematica in 2019, is currently contributing to evaluating the implementation of the Performance Partnership Pilots for Disconnected Youth Program, which aims to improve services and outcomes for disconnected youth. She is also analyzing survey and administrative data from, and providing evaluation technical assistance to, grantees of the federal Healthy Marriage and Responsible Fatherhood program.
Previously, Stanczyk worked at the Urban Institute, where she contributed to quantitative and qualitative studies of work–family supports, child welfare and youth programs, and family economic security. Her research has been published in Family Relations, Families in Society, the Journal of Marriage and Family, and Social Service Review. She holds a Ph.D. and an A.M. (M.S.W. equivalent) from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration.
