Julieta Lugo-Gil

Principal Researcher

Julieta Lugo-Gil studies the effects of early childhood education, parenting programs, and policy on children and families. Her areas of expertise include early education and programs and policies aimed to support the well-being of low-income and immigrant families.

Lugo-Gil led the planning and development of a toolkit for state administrators, program leaders, practitioners, and researchers designing evaluations of child care Quality Rating and Improvement Systems. She also helped design the National Title I Study of Implementation and Outcomes in Early Childhood Language Development, which is looking at associations between school programs/teacher practices and the development of children’s reading comprehension achievement by grade three.

Lugo-Gil has both national and international experience in early childhood programs and issues. She is an expert in designing evaluations of programs that aim to strengthen language, literacy, and health practices in global settings. She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and presented at professional conferences. Lugo-Gil holds a Ph.D. in economics from New York University.
