About Jung Yee

Jung Kim specializes in mixed-methods and qualitative research methods to assess complex local and state-level initiatives aimed at improving community health and well-being for vulnerable populations, for example, individuals with serious mental illness, HIV/AIDS, or epilepsy.

Kim has extensive expertise conducting case studies, in-depth interviews, focus groups, and literature reviews, and analyzing survey, administrative, and qualitative data. She is directing an evaluation of a program that aims to mobilize cross-sector, community-led efforts to address social, economic, and environmental inequities. She recently led the evaluation of a community coalition leadership program, which assessed a team-based approach to building leadership capacity. She has evaluated two separate behavioral health integration projects in Pennsylvania for Medicaid beneficiaries with serious mental illness and chronic conditions, including the Serious Mental Illness Innovations Project, supported by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and the Center for Health Care Strategies, and the Behavioral Health Home Plus pilot implemented in five rural counties. Throughout her work, she has synthesized data from multiple sources to understand implementation factors that might affect program outcomes in numerous settings.

Before joining Mathematica, Kim conducted research and evaluation activities in cancer epidemiology for University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She publishes in journals such as Health Affairs and the Journal of Behavioral Health Services & Research and presents her work at professional conferences sponsored by AcademyHealth, the American Evaluation Association, and the American Public Health Association. Kim holds a M.P.H. from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
