Linda Barterian

Senior Researcher

Linda Barterian’s work focuses on primary care delivery models, health care quality measurement and monitoring, and Medicare and Medicaid program evaluation.

Barterian is working on several projects for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, including an evaluation of models to improve primary care quality and efficiency through practice transformation, care coordination, and care transitions support; an analysis of home-based primary care providers participating in CMS’s Independence at Home Demonstration aimed at meeting the needs of complex patient populations; and an initiative to create new provider-level quality measures from electronic health record data. In addition, she has led design and production of formative evaluation reports for the CMS Partnership for Patients initiative to significantly reduce preventable hospital adverse events and readmissions.

Prior to joining Mathematica, Barterian held positions in health care consulting where she developed risk-adjusted models for patient health outcomes and provider profiling tools and as an epidemiologist at Ford Motor Company monitoring health outcomes in a population of one million employees and retirees.  She has an M.P.P. from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and an M.P.H. in epidemiology from the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan.
