Nora Paxton

Director, Data Analytics

Nora Paxton has experience developing programming systems and leading teams of programmers to perform data acquisition and cleaning, administrative data linking, complex variable construction, analysis and reporting, and public use file creation and documentation.

Paxton is currently a senior systems analyst for various projects in the nutrition area, including the National Estimates of National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program Erroneous Payments study for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food Nutrition Service. In particular, she leads the programming effort to produce estimates of erroneous payments for local education agencies. Paxton developed an innovative system to match sampled students to state-level Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families data files. For an evaluation of the Harlem Children’s Zone Healthy Harlem Initiative, she leads a team of programmers and oversees the processing and cleaning of survey, body mass index, and physical activity data. She also leads the Stata programming for pre-post and difference-in-differences analyses, which includes multiple comparison adjustments for outcomes within defined domains.

Paxton came to Mathematica in 2000 and holds a B.A. in economics and an M.A. in public affairs and politics from Rutgers University.
