Peer Review and Support for Regional Educational Laboratories

Prepared for
U.S. Department of Education, Institute of Education Sciences

This project provides independent external review of products produced by the U.S. Department of Education’s 10 Regional Educational Laboratories (RELs). It includes technical and peer review of the REL’s applied research activities and reports, as well as proposals for descriptive data analyses, technical assistance, systematic reviews, and impact evaluations.

In addition, the research team is developing as-needed analytic and methods-oriented projects to support the RELs’ in conducting rigorous research, working in partnership with state and district staff, and effectively communicating about research to address high-leverage education issues in their regions. These projects are models for others to use in managing complicated analytic tasks or addressing technical issues, and help advance the state of knowledge and enhance the process of conducting education evaluations, while reducing the cost. We will also conduct special studies on topics or methodological issues relevant to the RELs.
