Dheeya Rizmie’s work focuses on climate change impacts and policies, particularly those affecting population health and vulnerable communities. Her research looks at the cyclical relationship between the environment and health, centering on health outcomes and health services. Her research interests also extend to study of health inequities, emergency preparedness, and health system responsiveness and resilience. She is an advocate for the use of interdisciplinary research to make greater impacts on global challenges, particularly environmental and climate change concerns.

Rizmie holds a Ph.D. in health economics from Imperial College London. She also holds M.P.H. (global health), M.Res (economics), and B.Sc. (biomedical sciences) degrees. Before joining Mathematica, she worked on the health emergencies planning team at the World Health Organization in Geneva for the 2016 Zika emergency and served as a technical officer for health emergencies operations during the 2016 Angolan yellow fever emergency. Her previous experience also includes work with the Carbon Trust (United Kingdom), Imperial College London’s COVID-19 rapid research team, and Perdana University of Graduate Medicine (Malaysia).
